James Bond Island

A world-famous limestone island in Phang Nga Bay, featured in The Man with the Golden Gun. Best visited on a day tour from Phuket.

James Bond Island, locally known as Khao Phing Kan, is a stunning limestone karst island located in Phang Nga Bay, northeast of Phuket. It gained international fame after featuring prominently in the 1974 James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun. The island is renowned for its dramatic vertical cliffs, crystal-clear emerald waters, and the iconic limestone pillar called Ko Tapu, which rises about 20 meters out of the sea.

Visitors can explore the island’s scenic beauty by joining a day tour from Phuket, usually departing from Ao Po Pier or Royal Phuket Marina. These tours often include stops at surrounding attractions such as the peaceful Panyi Floating Village, hidden lagoons, sea caves, and opportunities for kayaking through stunning limestone formations.

James Bond Island is part of Ao Phang Nga National Park, a protected marine park with diverse wildlife, mangroves, and coral reefs. The best time to visit is during the dry season from November to April, when weather conditions are ideal for boat trips and sightseeing.

A visit to James Bond Island offers not only breathtaking natural scenery but also a glimpse into Thailand’s cultural heritage and cinematic history, making it a must-see destination for travelers to Phuket.
